
Benfleet, Essex — Laughter truly is the best medicine, especially when it comes from the heart. That’s what over 200 children and staff at Kingston Primary School discovered during a special wellbeing day in March led by passionate laughter yogi, Cat Googe.
Cat, a former primary school teacher turned wellness practitioner and self-proclaimed “Joy Expert,” returned to the classroom in a different way—delivering a full day of laughter yoga workshops designed to support the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of both pupils and staff.
As part of the school’s “Live Your Best Laugh” initiative, Cat guided the children through interactive sessions that included deep belly breathing, joyful affirmations, and calming meditations. These playful yet powerful techniques are aimed at building resilience, improving emotional regulation, and boosting confidence.
“We had a wonderful, uplifting day with Cat,” said Gemma Samuels, SENCO and EYFS teacher at Kingston Primary. “She empowered the children and staff with a range of engaging strategies. Cat was positive, full of energy, and provided us with a fabulously invigorating day!”
The impact was immediate. Children left sessions feeling “happy, confident and calm,” while others described themselves as “excited, peaceful and energised.” Teachers were equally inspired, already incorporating laughter and breathing techniques into daily routines.
For Cat, it’s more than just a workshop—it’s a mission. Drawing on her own experience in education, she understands firsthand the pressures schools face and the growing need for practical wellbeing tools.
Beyond schools, Cat shares her energy and techniques at major festivals like Glastonbury and Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place, as well as in corporate environments, helping people from all walks of life manage stress and rediscover joy.
Her approach is simple: reconnect with the body, breathe deeply, and laugh intentionally. The results? A happier, healthier, more connected community—one giggle at a time.
