Dr. Nathan Mansbach: Emiliano, son of Axa, a laughter leader who graduated from our Mexican School of Laughter Yoga, is two and a half years old. He suffers from congenital arthrogryposis, dislocation of the hip. At the age of 6 months he was intervened to correct clubfoot.

Nowadays, Emiliano cannot walk and needs a wheelchair in order to be independent. This pediatric wheelchair is special due to its unique size and dimensions and it is expensive, a little more than $3,000.00 U.S. dollars. Since we were getting ready for our last Laughter Yoga session of the year, I sent an e-mail to our Laughter Yoga database, reminding people of our meeting and asking them that, even though our sessions are free, this time we requested them to pledge their voluntary donation to raise funds for Emiliano’s wheelchair.

Once again, Laughter Yoga gave me the opportunity to give and to care for people. But this is not the end of the story! Twenty minutes after I sent the e-mail, a lady, who by the way is not a frequent member of our club but a loyal follower of our cause, responded with an offer to donate the necessary amount of money to complete the required sum for Emiliano’s wheelchair.

Laughter Yoga is a bridge to reach the most lovely and generous human beings! On our last meeting, we laughed, we sang, we danced, we felt grateful, we raised positive affirmations with the vision of little Emiliano walking joyfully.
