Sylvie discovered Laughter Yoga the day she truly reconnected with her "inner child" and realized that growing up and being serious were not prerequisites for happiness. From that moment on, she knew that this was her calling in life.
Turning Challenges into Opportunities
Coincidentally, shortly after becoming a Laughter Yoga leader, she lost her job. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it provided the perfect opportunity to practice what she had just learned—the incredible benefits of Laughter Yoga. With unwavering belief in the power of laughter, she gained the confidence to move forward and find joy even during that challenging period of her life. Her enthusiasm to share this newfound source of happiness with the world grew stronger each day.
Spreading Laughter to Heal Others and Herself
She began sharing Laughter Yoga sessions with seniors, cancer patients, individuals living with depression, and those suffering from Alzheimer’s. It became her new job, one that brought immense fulfillment. As she spread laughter and joy, her own life underwent significant shifts. Her children, whom she loved dearly, started leaving home, and her supportive husband faced a transfer, prompting her to relocate and start fresh. Throughout this transition, Laughter Yoga became her steadfast companion—a tool to maintain happiness, positivity, health, and resilience during this exciting new chapter. And let's not forget about the incredible sleep she experienced as well!
A Meaningful Connection During a Friend’s Final Journey
During this year of adjustment, she had the unique privilege of accompanying and coaching a friend in his courageous battle with cancer. They shared laughter regularly, whether in person or through Skype, until the day he felt ready to move on and open his own Laughter Club in heaven. These profound experiences further strengthened her determination to continue spreading laughter and to “infect” everyone she met. She vowed to persist until Laughter Yoga occupies the rightful place it deserves in preventive and complementary medicine.
Now, at the age of 64, she considers herself incredibly fortunate to be engaged in the work she does and to have Laughter Yoga as an integral part of her life. She embraces her continued immaturity with a sense of gratitude. She recognizes the immense impact that Madan and Madhuri Kataria, the founders of Laughter Yoga, have had on her journey.
The Simplicity and Power of Laughter
What she admires most about Laughter Yoga is its simplicity and its incredible ability to serve as a life tool, particularly during challenging times. Having practiced Laughter Yoga for over 16 years, she has come to realize that her passion for LY has helped her in numerous ways, allowing her to keep her inner joy alive and share it with her family and friends. It has proven to be a powerful source of mental well-being, even during life's most difficult challenges, including moments of grief.
