Dr. Waikin (Miyake, Gifu) - Found My Mission Through Laughter Yoga

My name is Miyake and I live in the countryside of Gifu. My nickname is "Dr. Waikin." Although I'm in my late twenties, my life has begun to shine again since I discovered laughter yoga.

It all started with an article about laughter yoga I saw in the local newspaper. Interested, I immediately contacted him, and Mr. Yoshimi from "Kokohito no Kai" came to my home and arranged for me to receive direct instruction. At that moment, I felt that this was truly amazing.

In fact, a year prior, I had undergone surgery for horrific pancreatic cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. While chemotherapy is certainly effective, it also has its limitations. Therefore, I strongly felt that I needed to enhance my own "healing power." It was during this time that I became convinced that laughter yoga was the most logical and natural way to do so.

I continued practicing laughter yoga alone for about a year. However, when I felt stuck, I learned about Dr. Kataria's class and immediately decided to enroll. When I actually came here, I felt like I had found my calling.

Going forward, I would like to make it my life's work to use the professional experience I have cultivated to support people, and to support cancer patients and their families through laughter.

I hope to learn the essence and techniques of Laughter Yoga here, and to continue to "live and learn, live and learn," striving to reach even greater heights.
