Joan Accolla, based in Long Island, NY, is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Healing Headbands Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting emotional well-being through laughter and creative expression. She is also the Founder of Long Island Laughter Yoga (LIL’yo), a growing grassroots movement bringing laughter wellness programs to communities across townships throughout Long Island.

With over 30 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, and holistic wellness, Joan has pioneered innovative programs that combine therapeutic laughter and art to support healing in hospitals, schools, businesses, and community organizations. She is the creator of the signature Laugh, Create, Heal workshop model and has trained professionals nationwide in its methodology.

Joan holds certifications in Laughter Yoga Leadership and therapeutic facilitation. Her expertise spans Program Development, Community Engagement, Strategic Partnerships, Nonprofit Management, and Creative Arts Therapy. Passionate about joyful living and human connection, Joan continues to inspire a culture of wellness and compassion through her work.
