 Dr. Madan Kataria’s Message

Dear Laughter friends,

If ever there was a need to laugh the most; it is now. The world is in a state of turmoil and panic. Gripped by recession, terrorism and violence, there is a growing feeling of helplessness and insecurity.

This is not the first time we are facing economic recession. Ups and Downs are a design of life. The quality of life does not depend upon what happens to us; rather it depends upon what we do when something happens. We cannot change outside circumstances in a day. The easiest thing we can do is to change the way we feel inside, therefore, this is the right time to laugh for no reason until a time external conditions improve.

Fortunately, we have Laughter Yoga, an excellent tool which helps to uplift and strengthen our spirits in times of crisis. It will help us cultivate a positive mental attitude and an understanding based on unconditional love, forgiveness, generosity and compassion. These are the virtues we need for peace and harmony in this world.

Today is World Laughter Day. On this occasion thousands gather to laugh worldwide and help to shrink away fears and tensions amidst the sound of laughter. Our mission is to bring Good Health, Joy and World Peace through laughter.

How can we bring world peace through laughter? The formula is very simple- “When you laugh you change and when you change the whole world changes”

The whole world is an extended family-let us join with love and laughter.

Please laugh for no reason for just one minute for world peace and send the vibrations into the universe.

Laughter Yoga For Iraqi War Veterans

US Army plans to use "Hasya Yoga" or Laughter Yoga to help Iraqi war soldiers overcome post-traumatic stress disorders.

Turning to Yoga to treat US soldiers returning from Iraq is the project planned to be started by a hospital for Army veterans in the American State of Arizona, which has so far found post-traumatic stress difficult to manage.

Dr. Andrew Weil, Director, Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and his colleague, Dr, Gulshan Sethi a cardiothoracic surgeon in Tucson are trying to modify Laughter Yoga a little bit and have proposed a research project with a group of Iraq war veterans at the VA (Veteran Affairs) VA Hospital. They believe that this branch of yoga coming from India has the potential to successfully treat post war stress and trauma of Iraqi soldiers.
