If you’ve seen the TV show, Deal or No Deal you’ll know where I got the inspiration

to create “Big Deal or No Big Deal”. First you need a sign that says “Big Deal or No Big Deal?”. The best time to play this game is after the laughter session. Ask your group if they can think of something that happened to them this week that was really annoying. Tell them to share something that made them mad or was frustrating. I pass a toy microphone to whoever has something to say (to use like a “talking stick”, where whoever holds the stick it the one who talks). Remind the group that we don’t use this time to share tragic events or deaths and this isn’t a time to whine about problems. Just share a simple thing that happened, that we can all laugh about together. Many of the contributions are pretty funny. After each volunteer tells their story, you hold up the sign and ask “Big deal or no big deal?” In unison we all shout NO BIG DEAL! and laugh.

This has been a good reminder for me to ask myself - Big deal or no big deal? when something goes array. Then I can put things into perspective. The feedback I’ve received from playing this game tells me that it’s making an impact on those who participate. I hope you have fun with this too.
