In June2004, one photo journalist from Marie Clair magazine visited 2 laughter clubs in Mumbai near by residence. Marie Clair is writing article about how woman in India are coping with life through laughter yoga. He took pictures of group of ladies dressed in Indian sarees and suits. It was funny he was taking photos of only woman and all the men were surprised why this funny camera is not taking even one picture of men? They came to know and laughed about it when I told them towards the end of session.

Women power in Laughter ClubsWhile having breakfast with me the journalist asked me one question why there are more women in the laugher clubs and very few men? Good questions. I replied as follows:

1. When I started laughter clubs in India it was all men and very few woman as they did not understand the philosophy of laughing without a reason in the public parks and they were not willing to take risk of doing something silly. Once they knew it is good for health and valued based activity they just poured in. Now woman are in majority (more than 60% all over the world), and men are less than 40%. There are other reasons like:

2.  Woman can express their emotions very easily be it laughter or crying. That is the reason they are emotionally resilient than man. They can balance their emotions easily.

3. Female energy is giving energy and they are not afraid of losing their power as in the case of men who were afraid of losing power and position. For them laughing without a reason is risking their ego.

4. The essence of laughing without a reason is cultivating your child like playfulness and waking your inner child. Since woman stay closer to children, they can play with their inner child very quickly.
