I have just concluded my memorable Laughter tour to Mexico and would like to share the amazing experience. The tour was organized by Namaste Yoga Studio, owned by Pedro and Caty. in collaboration with Laughter Yoga teacher, Jorge.
Arriving in Mexico City felt like home, as the incredible traffic reminded me of Mumbai (India). The very first day, I was taken to a Mexican restaurant, I feasted on spicy Tacos, Enchiladas, Tamales, Esquites, Tortillas and Jugo de Avena. I noticed that most people were not wearing masks which meant the dreaded swine flu was on its way down.
What was looking up - was Laughter Yoga. I gave two Radio interviews which had hundreds of people calling, and wanting to attend the Laughter Yoga Seminar and Workshops. I also conducted a Seminar at Mexico's General Hospital attended by 450 Doctors, Nurses and Paramedical staff.
The training was held in a beautiful center, Quinta el Zopilote, near Cuernavaca, Morelo. We trained almost 50 people. While most were local, there were some from seven different countries including USA, Canada, Trinidad, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
After the training, the public seminar was a Happy-demic attended by over 250 people. I met the Laughter Yoga Leaders and Teachers, and discussed the Laughter Club Movement in Mexico. At present, there are 17 Laughter Clubs, most of which have been set up by Nathan and Jorge, and their students. I'm expecting a major explosion of Laughter Clubs all over Mexico, as the country is going through hard times during the global recession.
Something Interesting About Mexico City
Mexico City is a huge Metropolitan city of more than 20 million people. It is built on reclaimed land from a lake. The National Symbol is an Eagle eating a Snake sitting on a Cactus called ‘Nopal’.
Similarities Between India And Mexico
India and Mexico have a lot in common. The people of Mexico exude warmth and affection, very reminiscent of India. Hospitality is the hallmark of both the cultures. They are family-oriented and believe in welcoming guests with utmost generosity. Besides this, both Mexicans and Indians love spicy food with lots of hot red chilly… ha ha ha
