Telephone Conference Laughter Clubs / Laughter Buddies
In India laughter clubs are held every day thereby helping people to reap enormous health benefits as they laugh regularly. But, in the Western countries laughter clubs happen just once a week leaving many wanting for more. Realizing their need for daily laughter, I devised certain techniques and exercises that would help people to laugh all by themselves. Read more…

Currently I am busy shooting a video and writing a book on how to laugh alone and I thought that this story clearly retells the fact that it is possible to laugh all by yourself. Try it, you’ll laugh too. I did. Read more…

Healing of Des’s tumor through laughing alone proves that laughter heals not only when practiced in groups but even when done alone.
I met Dr. Madan Kataria and his wife, Madhuri on their trip to Melbourne in March this year. As they stayed with us, I had the opportunity to learn how to laugh alone.
Greatly inspired I started to laugh all by myself every day after meditation. The laughter exercises include chants of Ho Ho, Ha Ha and deep breathing. I also do these exercises even while walking. I allow myself to be spontaneous and childlike and make funny movements. I also sing some positive affirmations like:
I am happy tee hee hee; I am free tee hee hee; I am healthy tee hee hee; I am strong tee hee hee…
Regular practice of laughing alone has had a tremendous effect on my health condition. Though suffering from a tumor for some time, I can feel it getting smaller. Even my specialist was amazed when he realized it had shrunk remarkably. He cancelled the radiotherapy and said,’ I am happy to keep an eye on it for now. I really believe it’s laughter, meditation and positive affirmations that have worked so wonderfully together.’
I also think laughter is anti-ageing. Though I’m 60 I feel very energetic, there is less pain and I can easily do a lot of things. People remark I look much better and younger!
I’m very grateful to Dr. Kataria who taught me to laugh on a daily basis as the clubs only meet once a week. Now laughing everyday has completely changed my life and given me a more positive outlook.
Thank You,
Namaste,
Des Nicholson

Here’s an interesting letter I received from a 74 year old lady who had a life changing experience by doing laughter exercises all by herself. She read my book and watched my video which motivated her to begin these exercises.
This has reaffirmed my belief in the effectiveness of laughing alone. I am soon launching a book and video on Laughter Yoga Alone techniques. I am sure it will help a lot of people like Shirley who cannot attend regular clubs but still want to reap the benefits of laughter yoga.
I read your book in one afternoon, watched the video, did laughter exercises each day for three days and already my life has changed totally.
I’d been trying to get involved in a laughter club for the past six years but we did not have a local club and neither did I have the money or time to travel. It was only last December I was fortunate to attend a laughter club session held in the city. I was inspired and knew it was the right time.
From going so deep spiritually through meditation, study etc, the right side of my brain was over developed and it was hard to get back a sense of balance. I knew exactly what I needed but had no idea how to get it. You did that for me and I can’t thank you enough. You have given me the most precious gift on my forthcoming 74th birthday. For the first time I can now enjoy life and my grandchildren.
You make it so easy-just how it should be.
My blessings to you and all your leaders and especially for your goal of world peace.
Namaste,
Shirley Wilkins

Why laugh alone?
With so much research showing the beneficial effects of laughter, people are accepting laughter as a form of therapy. Laughter yoga has until now been a group activity. In India there are thousands of laughter groups meeting daily, but in other countries laughter yoga groups often meet less frequently.
Many people are not able to get to a laughter yoga group when they feel the need for laughter therapy and are asking me “can I do laughter yoga exercises all by myself?”
Many LY professionals do LY exercises alone. While the social dynamics of doing LY in a group make it easier for laughter to flow, it is surely possible to practice LY alone.
I have made Laughter Yoga Alone a new project. Working with my international team of LY professionals I will develop techniques to make laughing alone easier, and will later disseminate this knowledge as a new Laughter Yoga course or book.
This is the first in a series of articles on Laughter Yoga Alone. Read more…
